Join us for an unforgettable journey!

This year, we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Bibbulmun Track.

Embark on an immersive exploration of the 1000-kilometre Bibbulmun Track, following in the footsteps of the 25th Anniversary end-to-end walkers. Discover over 30 milestones, each with captivating photos and vivid descriptions that bring the Track to life.

Form teams with friends and colleagues and track your steps on a virtual map. Join forces, support one another, and create lasting memories.

The Challenge starts on 14 July 2023 when the 25th Anniversary end-to-enders set off on their journey from Kalamunda to Albany.  Try to keep pace with them and complete the Track in 62 days… but don’t worry if you need more time, you have up to 12 weeks to complete the Track with your team mates.

This challenge is more than just an adventure; it's an opportunity to make a difference. By choosing to fundraise as part of your participation, you'll help us raise much-needed funds for track maintenance, with 10% of funds raised going towards helping save WA's Black Cockatoos.

And that's not all! Throughout the challenge, we have a line-up of exciting prizes to keep you motivated and add an extra dash of excitement to your virtual hiking journey.

Lace-up your virtual boots, embrace the challenge, and give it your all!

Sign up today and join in the fun!

P.S.  There is no charge to take part in the Challenge - and fundraising is optional – but if you can afford $10 per person it would be gratefully received to cover the challenge set-up fee per person. We’ll let you know how...

About the Bibbulmun Track

Saturday 13 September 2023 marks the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the Perth-to-Albany Track, now known to us as the Bibbulmun Track.

The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world's great long-distance walk trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda, a suburb in the hills on the outskirts of Perth, to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. It passes through the heart of the scenic south west of Western Australia.

The Bibbulmun Track Foundation is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation established to provide support for the management, maintenance and marketing of the Bibbulmun Track.

Whilst the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction's Parks and Wildlife Service, acts as Manager of the Track, the Bibbulmun Track Foundation is the primary focal point for community-based support and involvement.  The Foundation’s 470 volunteers contribute over 30,000 volunteer hours each year in a variety of roles from assisting hikers to maintaining the Track and campsites.  With over 1000 kilometres of trail and 53 campsites (including four group campsites) – maintenance is a never-ending project!

The Bibbulmun Track is free to all walkers – help us keep it that way and give back to the Track!

About the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is a specialist wildlife centre located in Perth, Western Australia, dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured wild native black cockatoos.

There are three species of black cockatoo that are endemic to the South West of Western Australia – the Baudin’s black cockatoo, the Carnaby’s cockatoo, and the forest red-tailed black cockatoo.

All are threatened with extinction due to land clearing, illegal shooting, vehicle strikes, and competition with other species for nesting hollows.

Currently, it is estimated that there are only 10,000 Baudin’s cockatoos left in the wild; 20,000 to 40,000 Carnaby’s cockatoos; and 10,000 to 15,000 red-tailed black cockatoos. They have been classed as endangered as their population has declined by 50% since the 1970s and is continuing to steadily decline. Therefore, it is essential to rescue and save as many black cockatoos as we can and work on protecting their native habitat.
